Melanoma up 50 percent since 1980

Get the Message?!

Are we really still on this topic?!

Are we (America) 'soaking up the sun' because we don't care or is it because we don't really think it's 'burning' years off our life? (yeah, i know the play on words needs to stop)! Whe are still trying to prove to people that smoking is bad after years of our grandparents dieing of emphysema and lung cancer so why wouldn't the Health Media beat a dead horse about skin cancer - it obviously is going to take another century of skin graphs and circle-shaped scares before the message hits home!

I can't express how angry i am when i hear about tanning beds or girls laying-out to reach their color for the summer - being uneducated is no longer an excuse. I have no patience for those who are careless about long-term effects and play the 'immortal' card.

I don't care if this makes me sound like an ol'hag who hates the outdoors and thinks everyone is going to die of skin cancer - i don't feel that way i simply believe that if you can prevent some danger to your body then at least make the effort to. Enjoy the outdoors and bring in the nature but don't let it poison your largest living organ.
