I have been meaning to blog about my latest ventures out in the town of Chico and I am so behind I figured it would be better to write about them all at once. I enlightened you a few months ago on Euro Cafe and Chico Cabaret but that was just the tip of the iceberg. What keeps me in Chico other than the disposition of the people are the outlets that fill-up the corners of this town.

This Valentines Day Sam took me to the Vagina Monologues. In the past I have referred to some of my post as 'Vagina Monologues' but I never had experienced the real thing until that night. What ended up being more emotional than humorous was still undeniably a piece of art. Each actress was believable and humble. Each story was raw; sex, abuse, giving birth, orgasms, and self growth. The last week of February Kara and I spent our Saturday night at the Roller Derby. Amazing - It's my new favorite sport. Until that night I thought a Roller Derby was a bunch of lesbians pushing each other around a rink. In all honestly it is a little bit of that but so much more. For a spilt second I wanted to join the team - I even had my Roller name picked out! (I’m over that now)! March 28th is the next show-down! Please join! Oh Yeah - just in case I forget to tell you, Nae, Nor Cal is playing Bakersfield some time soon! Hint Hint!!! ($12)

This last weekend Jacob performed in Keeping Dance Alive. The two hour performance consisted of ballet, jazz, tap, belly dancers (which was really awkward), hip-hop, martial arts, and modern. The students were very talented and entertaining the performances were breathtaking. Very well put together! ($18)


When I first moved to Chico my parents visited me for Thanksgiving and I took them to The Black Crow Restaurant which became my favorite restaurant but regretfully it has close. But don't fear this town has plenty of other bistro’s to fill my appreciation for good food. Just in case you find yourself stuck in the cookie-cutter corporate chains let me enlighten you on my favorites in town. Crush 201, Broad Way Heights, Christian Michaels Ristorante, Pluto's (for an extra penny), Sin or Cortez (which should hire me to do their marketing), TEAZ ME Tea Bar & Asian Cafe (more so for the Tea's than the food), Pita Pit, 5th Street Steak House, and Tres Hombres. I am leaving out several more among bar's, coffee houses, and desert favorites but that will be in another post.
