Love Better

When you can't see past the decisions and options.
Love better.
When you hurt from the words of ignorance.

Love better.
When you fail to trust, succumb to doubt, speak-out in fear.

Love better.
Forget the oppressor, the facts and reasoning.

Love better.
Release your control over punishment and debt.

Love better.
Be silent while soul-searching. Listen better.
Take growing as a gift. Understand better.
Give back, give often and unconditionally.

Love better.
Unselfishly check your selfishness. Love better.
Patiently wait for the unknown. Love better.
Observe and stay open to what you don’t understand.

Love better.
Your thoughts are loud. Love better.
Stay grounded on hope and your wings elevated with faith.

Love better.

I think what makes this poem so great to read is the same thing that makes it so hard to comment about: It’s relatable. Love is so messy. We go into it thinking it’s all butterflies and rainbows. But the truth is, we don’t show our ‘human-ness’ when we’re falling. We love the way we should in the beginning…then we backslide somewhere along the line. Somewhere along the line, we forget how to be selfless. Our own issues, our pain, begin to outweigh the importance of ‘loving better’. Wouldn’t it be great if love worked in a backward motion? I mean, how nice would it be to fall in love with someone when we are all imperfect and such. Then, as time goes by, grow towards the freedom and excitement of that first date, that first kiss! I say let’s get undignified, let’s not make sense, let’s lose sight of our selfishness and love like it’s new every morning!

This is a perfect example to why i love when people express their opinions and feeling about things i post. It's proof that one piece of writting can be taken differently per person. There is no write answer - it's whatever helps each person.
This was written after a deeep spirtiual search with God. Based on 1st Corinthians 13 - i couldn't seem to finsih any recent prayer's bc my human mind couldn't love better. My lack of faith, hope, and love prevented good spiritual communication. Basically, 'Love Better' was my instructions for the day from God.
