"When can you Start?"

5 pages of applications

4 copies of my resume

3 letters of reference

2 hour long interviews

1 marketing portfolio

This basically sums up my entire week!

I thought i knew everything there was to know about interviewing and landing a career but apparently Mr. Delano failed to mention when you are in a city where no one knows your family members it is 10 times harder to land a job.

I usually walked into any locally owned business and they would say "Well hello there young lady - hows your grandpa doin'?" "Wow . . . i remember when you were this tall" as they lowered their hand to equal the height of the desk table. "When can you start?"

Even after Graduation Target picked me up faster than it took for my grades to come back. But that company was also simply looking for fresh young students to mold into their image - they could care less that i had marketing and advertising skills that could rock their world. Sorry, I have to get my confidence from somewhere.

Needless to say now that I am looking for something that fits what 'I' want to do and have been removed from my comfort zone it is much more challenging on my part to fight for a job in these uneasy days. Don't get me wrong there is nothing better than sleeping in and not knowing what day it is because every day is a Saturday. And having lunch/coffee with my friends any time of the day. But in all seriousness, all through high school and mostly through college i was handed free opportunities with a simply phone call and a check from my parents.

It's good to grow up!
